Last September 12, 2014, the Tutorial and Language Center of Enderun Colleges was invited to conduct communication and table setting lectures to 150 Grade 12 students in one of the top local high schools in the Philippines. At the end of the talks, the students should have been able to understand the value of proper etiquette in a variety of social situations, and good communication skills in formal meetings or every day conversations.
The instructors from the Tutorial and Language Center tackled topics such as: Formal and Informal Introductions, Business Proposals and Telephone Conversations. An interactive approach was used to conduct the classes. Modules were also provided so that the students can further review the lessons that they have learned.
In addition, several student teachers taking up degrees in Hotel Administration conducted table setting classes. Simulations played a big role in the learning experience. In the said classes, the teachers prepared mock table setting so that their students should be able to apply the skills they acquired from the lectures.
This event was held by TLC’s partner school in response to the theme Good Manners being promoted for the month of September.
